The 社会工作学系 offers courses in 社会工作 (SOCW) 和 the 文学士(学士.A.)社会工作. B.A. in 社会工作 is accredited by the Council on 社会工作 Education (CSWE). This department offers a major in 社会工作 和 does not offer a minor in 社会工作. 此外,攻读B.A. in 社会工作 are not required to declare a minor in a second academic discipline.

The mission of the 社会工作学系 is to prepare diverse students for ethical generalist social work practice that builds on strengths, 促进弹性, 和 utilizes the person in environment framework. 该计划强调自由主义它的基础课程侧重于:

Baccalaureate 社会工作 Program expresses its commitment to social work’s purpose, 值, 和 ethics throughout the various components of the curriculum, wherein students are exposed to the 值 和 ethical foundation consistent with that of the social work profession. The knowledge 和 skills acquired over the course of the program are directly correlated to 9 Core Competencies as defined in the 2015 Council on 社会工作 (CSWE) Educational Policy 和 Accreditation St和ards (EPAS).

文科视角, 社会科学同源词, 和 social work courses (core 和 electives) provide opportunities to learn about 和 incorporate the ethical 和 value orientations necessary for effective practice. The faculty is fully aware of the necessity to introduce to students, nurture 和 facilitate the continual attention to the 值 和 ethical positions of the profession to guide practice actions. Further instruction supports the professional commitment to continuing contributions to the ongoing assessment of these perspectives. Each of the program goals addresses the purpose, 值, 和 ethics of the profession to some degree 和 is derived from its mission in order to:

  • prepare students with knowledge of the profession, 值, 和 skills for practice that will further develop the profession 和 promote just, 更加人性化, 公平的服务提供, 
  • provide opportunities for students to utilize a variety of tools 和 approaches to assess, intervene 和 evaluate practice with people from backgrounds that do not reflect their own (e.g., race, 性别认同, 宗教, political affiliation, etc.), 
  • engage students in culturally competent address the unique needs of at-risk 和 underserved populations, 和 
  • empower students to work collaboratively with inter- 和 intra-disciplinary teams to effect micro, 女中音, 和 macro-level change in places 和 policies where social 和 economic injustices exist.
